Côtes du Rhône Villages Cairanne Red

Appellation : Côtes du Rhône Villages Cairanne

Vintage : 2014

Color : Red

Grapes :

  • Grenache : 60 %

  • Syrah : 10 %

  • Mourvèdre : 30 %

Soil :

The vineyard for the Cairanne production is rather spread out, and wine comes from a mix of

soils, some being sandy, clay/limestone and garrigues, which is soil that is very red (copper

content) and rocky.

Vinification :

This wine is made from very old vines (40-60 years old) with a low yield of 35 hl/ha.

The harvest is de-stemmed. The tank fermentation lasts 15 days, with punching down of the

cap or must, which allows for wines that are structured and very aromatic. This wine can age

for 4-6 years, depending upon the consumers’ preference.

Tasting notes :

The color is red burlat with the sheen Indian ink. It develops a powerful nose of wild myrtles, “garrigues” with notes of leather, and wild cade. Its mouth is elegant, unctuous, on

notes of cherry, prune of Agen, pear jam associated with soft spices.
